This summer has been a whirlwind of activity for me. I’ve done so much, experienced so many things for the first time that this is up there on my ‘favorite summers ever’. August was a little calmer, though not by much. So, let’s get right into it.
The first thing I’d like to mention is that I started this blog. I made the switch from Blogspot, and I’ve fallen so in love with WordPress, and I’m really loving getting into the blogging community.

What I’ve written
Honestly, I’ve been in a massive writing slump. I have all these ideas, but I can’t quite get them out in a way to make me happy. I read a blog run by the wonderful A.R. Von [Link] and she’s part of a group of bloggers who write flash fiction, pieces between 500-1000 words, and post them on Wednesdays. I was allowed to join in and participated for the first time on the 28th. You can read my post here: Guardian of the Wolves 1

What I’ve been listening to
A ton of country. I’ve been riding the country wave all summer, and August was no exception. Until the 27th, when Avenged Sevenfold’s new album “Hail to the King” came out. I don’t think it’s stopped playing since I bought it.
What I’ve Done
August 1-5 I went to my first ever massive music festival. My friend Angie, her boyfriend and I went to the other side of the state and had the opportunity to experience Watershed. I got to see Luke Bryan, Toby Keith, Brad Paisley, Thompson Square, Lee Brice..just to name a few. This was also my first time camping out. Think of it as a country themed Woodstock. My birthday was also August 4th and this concert trip was my gift from my parents.
August 10th I did my first 5k with a group of friends. We did the Color Me Rad run. Participants run/walk 5k and get pelted with colored powder. The effect is a tie-died mess at the end. It was so much fun.
August 15th I went to see Joe Nicholls perform with my mom. It wasn’t the greatest concert, but it was fun.
I went blueberry picking for the first time. My gym buddy and I discovered that Blueberry Park isn’t a play park, but rather acres and acres of blueberry bushes.
I went to two movies this month. I saw City of Bones with one of my best friends, and then I saw We’re the Millers with my other bestie.
About mid-month I got the news that my friend Cassandra and I are the MLs for this year’s NaNoWriMo for our county. NaNoWriMo is where people attempt to write a 50,000 word novella in the month of November. MLs are the people who organize write ins and activities.
September is looking to be just as busy if not even more crazy. I’ve got tons of things planned to do, and some really great books to read.
What was your favorite thing that you’ve done during August?
