Musing Mondays asks you to muse about one of the following each week…
• Describe one of your reading habits.
• Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s).
• What book are you currently desperate to get your hands on? Tell us about it!
• Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren’t) enjoying it.
• Do you have a bookish rant? Something about books or reading (or the industry) that gets your ire up? Share it with us!
• Instead of the above questions, maybe you just want to ramble on about something else pertaining to books — let’s hear it, then!
I’ve been kind restless when it comes to books. I’ve picked up books and put them down only a few minutes later. So, my only solution to this was to go out and buy more books. This comes from two stores, Half Price Books and Barnes and Noble.
At Half Price Books I picked up Switched, Ascend and Torn by Amanda Hocking. These three books make up a Young Adult paranormal trilogy. I originally grabbed Torn first, and then searched for the previous two books. It looks really interesting and when I was flipping through the first book, Switched, I found myself getting caught up in sections. I’m really looking forward to reading these, and they’ll show up on the blog. Each of the books retailed at $4.49.
I found The Midnight Mayor and realized that it was the sequel to A Madness of Angels both by Kate Griffin. These are the first two in a series, and I know I’m just going to gobble them up. There’s magic, angels, revenge and hopefully tons of action. I’m struggling to not just toss everything aside and just read these two books right now. Kate Griffin is a pseudonym for the YA author Catherine Webb. I paid $4.50 for A Madness of Angels and $5.99 for The Midnight Mayor.
I found myself at Barnes and Noble the next day, and the first thing I did was pick up Countdown City by Ben Winters, which is the sequel to The Last Policeman, Rather than a murder case, Hank Palace is faced with a missing person case. I’m super excited to read this book, and it took me a while to track it down. I paid full price for this, $14.95
The last book I bought was Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor. This was on my goodreads recommendations when I was adding in another book. It’s a paranormal YA book that has aspects of demons and other paranormal monsters. I was drawn in by the cover and the back blurb just blew me away. I’m thinking that once I’m done with some R&Rs I need to put up I’m going to get into these right away.
I also picked up a volume of manga Attack on Titan vol. 6 if you’re at all interested. I love this series and it’s so deliciously messed up. I didn’t have it in the picture because it was upstairs and far away from my other purchases.
