Top Ten Tuesday.

Welcome to my Top Ten Tuesday! This week I’m talking about the Top Ten New to Us in 2013 Authors. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly blog post hosted by The Broke and Bookish

#10.JC Mells author of the Pierced series, she’s created an interesting world that blends humans and the paranormal werewolf and vampire type beasties into this fantastical ride. There’s adventure, drama, high stakes, amazing character development, lush story telling, and recipes. Oh yeah. This book not only has great qualities as a paranormal romance/world book but there’s food porn. Seriously, some of the things Pierce cooks is just ridiculous.

#9. AR Von author of the Wunder series and someone that I’ve started to get to know over the year. Wunder is an interesting take on the zombie genre and manages to blend tasteful erotica to create something that I hadn’t seen before. Put aside images of Romero’s zombies bumping uglies, Wunder is only partially a zombie. How does that work? Pick up the series and check it out. It gets better with each release, and I’m proud to say I’m in a flash fiction group with her (Wednesday Briefs), so it’s neat to write alongside someone who I admire.

#8. Mindy McGinnis author of Not a Drop to Drink. I’ll admit it, I’m a bit of a book snob, and tended to give YA a wide berth. Especially post-apocalyptic YA. But then this book kept cropping up all over the place, and I caved to book buddy pressure and read it. This book is something amazing, and I really want to read more from this author.

#7.Kelly Van Hull author of Tent City.  I was originally given a copy of her debut to read for review, and I quickly fell head over heels for it. The concept ties the decline of society along with the rise of the religious apocalypse, and there’s ties and allegories and just really neat stuff. The more I read this story, the more I catch and discover. The sequel has been released, and I need to pick it up asap.

#6.Dale Ibitz I won Fire in the Blood in a giveaway, and Dale was nice enough to graciously gift me the sequel Strong Blood. I read the two back to back in my down time while at a festival, and I couldn’t stop thinking about the books the entire time. The characters are great, the worlds are amazing and lush, and I need to read more. Thankfully, the third in the series is out, and I can’t wait to get my hands all over it.

#5. Airicka Phoenix I was introduced to this author through winning a giveaway, I won her novel Touching Smoke and I’ve read a few more of her titles. Her books are so.good. I can’t stress that enough. The heroines are strong and independent and smart, and the men in her books are certainly swoon-worthy. Her books are fast paced, engaging and I totally get swept away in them, and often wander around after finishing them in a book hangover.

#4.Kevin Hearne So I’m slightly fudging here. I read one of the Iron Druid series prior to 2013, but it wasn’t until this year that I devoured them like candy. I’m still one or two books behind in the series, but it’s one of my favorite in the entire world. A friend turned me on to Kevin Hearne when my favorite series by Simon R. Green ended, hoping that it would fill the void Nightside left.  It did give me a snarky hero, a badass sidekick and a lot of interesting mythology. I love the series, and I’m happy to have read more of it.

#3. Erin Morgenstern I had heard about Night Circus for a while, and I had even had the book on my shelf for a few months…a year..or something like that. It wasn’t until I picked it up and started reading it that I understood why everyone was going bananas for it. It’s a good book, I’m glad I read it, and I look forward to more from this author.

#2.  Suzanne Von RooyenI read Obscura Burning and my literary world shifted. This book is something amazing. The premise is fresh and new, the characters are diverse in many different ways. Suzanne is an amazing author, and I need to read all of her books. Seriously. They’re that good.

#1. Paula McLain Anyone who can make me like Hemingway is amazing in my opinion. The Paris Wife is an amazing book, and I recommend it to everyone.

That’s my top ten for this week! Leave a comment and share some authors you discovered this year! If you’ve done a TTT feel free to link it to me as well.
