Today I’d like to talk to you about the Top Ten Things I love being a Blogger/Reader. As always Top Ten Tuesday is a feature started by The Broke and Bookish and you can check out TTT and other amazing things on their blog. These are in no particular order. π
I get the chance to talk about something that I’m really passionate about. Books. I love books. All books, I could spend hours in a bookstore just looking at books and reading the summaries. I get a chance to come online and talk to like minded people about books? Score. My friends and family only put up with so much before they’re telling me to go do something else (normally go outside).
As a reader I get to escape to another world. I love to get lost in the story and characters. It’s a chance to escape from stress and all of the things that need my attention. I get to have a little bit of me time. I think that’s why I’m so drawn to science fiction and fantasy, I can really get lost in a world that’s nothing like my own.
I get introduced to books that I would normally pass up. As a blogger and reading other people’s blogs, I get recommended books all the time. I’ll find a review or a focus on a book that I had skipped or didn’t pick up and read a little more about it, and go check it out myself. I’ve found some really amazing books that way. It’s kind of neat to have a little network of people always willing to recommend something.
As a reader and blogger I’ve gotten to know some AMAZING authors. It’s really fun to get to know these people who have crafted something and were willing to share it with the world. I’ve made some great friends, and I’m looking forward to meeting more authors.
Reading opens doors. I love fiction, but I love reading non-fiction as well. I’ll go into half price books or a used book store and pick up old text books to read. It’s something I enjoy doing, and I think that people shouldn’t ever stop reading and learning. There’s so much to learn and experience in this world and to just stop because you’re out of school is sad.
. Reading makes my writing better. When I’m struggling with a writer’s block, or unable to get my words out properly, I go read a book, or a couple of chapters. Reading really helps loosen things up and shake thoughts free.
I have made some amazing friends blogging. I’m so appreciative of you all. β€
I love that my bookshelves are overflowing. I love the fact that I have bookshelves. Plural. I love that I have boxes and boxes and a stack of books to read in my closet. I love that I have two towering stacks of books in my closet to read. Because it means I will never run out of worlds to explore.
I love being the ‘reader’ in a group of friends. That way when I have someone who wants to find something new to read, I have a book to give them. Being a reader gives me the chance to talk to lots of different people about different things. Not necessarily bookish things, but in a round about way everything can connect back to a story.
I love the people I’ve met through blogging. I’ve got to make friends with amazing authors, people who are just getting into the publishing world, and getting the chance to read their stuff before anyone else. I love getting to know other bloggers (so seriously, feel free to say hi!), and sharing my love of books with those who are of like mind.
Why do you love reading so much? Tell me in the comments. π If you’ve also done a Top Ten Tuesday feel free to leave it in the comments, I’d love to see your list.
I agree with all of these! I love being a reader in the blogging community. I think the one that applies to me most is getting introduced to books I’d otherwise not be aware of. I think my to-read list has exploded since reading book blogs but I’m not sure that’s a bad thing. Hope you have a great week π
It was getting pretty bad when I was just reading other blogs. But now that I participate in TTT it’s gotten even worse, because I’ll start adding those recommendations too. It’s a vicious cycle. You too! Thank you for stopping by. π
I agree with all of your points. Being a book blogger in this community is lovely. I’ve met some amazing people and read some brilliant books because of others!
I just have to go that one step further and actually start talking to people rather than just lurking on their blogs. π Thanks for stopping by!
Escaping through books is my favorite thing; you get to go anywhere, have awesome adventures… It’s the best!
Friends, writing practice… all of it! Great picks!
Happy reading!
My TTT
It’s a cheap way to get to live all sorts of lives. π It boggles my mind that people don’t like to read. Thank you for stopping by! Have a great week!
Ah yes! Reading really does help with writer’s block. I find that blogging actually helps me get my creative juices flowing too! Great list π
Blogging does too. But generally once I’ve hit a writing block hard I curl up with a book and get lost in it. π Thanks for stopping by! Have a great week.
I love being the reader in my group of friends. I have been able to share the love of SO MANY BOOKS with my closest friends, and now they ask me what they should read next! It is a good feeling! =)
Jennifer @ A Librarian’s Library–My TTT!
It’s fun! I have a friend who will follow me around B&N and just pick up whatever I pick up. Or send me a text message asking to borrow whatever I’ve just finished. It’s neat exposing friends who don’t read as much to different stories. Thank you for stopping by!
Great picks π I have discovered so many books that I wouldn’t have even known about if it wasn’t for blogging. It has made my TBR list endless but I love it that way, I’m never going to run out of books to read. My TTT.
I love that we’ve all accepted that our TBR list is endless, and we’ll never get through it all, but we have to add more to it. π Thank you for stopping by!
I love #2! I’m the reader in my group of friends too, and I didn’t ever think before how that’s a great role to have. I love recommending books to people, and I’m totally happy to be THE person they come to for a new read!
Thanks for stopping by earlier! I’m always looking for new great blogs to follow π
Lauren @ Wordy Hughes
It’s a great feeling, and it makes me so happy when I get that text message, or someone shows up asking to raid my bookshelf.
Thanks! Have a great week. π
I love this topic and seeing everyone’s reasons for being a reader and blogger.
Awesome list β€
Here's our TTT
Doris @ OABR
It’s neat to see how many of our reasons all line up. Thanks for stopping by!
Yes! I really like the one about being the reader in a group of friends. That makes me so happy too, and I love when someone comes back to me to tell me how much they loved a book that I recommended or handed to them! π
This! And it’s great fun when they come to you just drowning in feelings and frustrations and then you can talk to them about it. It’s like bringing one more person into the reading club. Thank you for stopping by, Have a great week. π
I love that I’ve found so many books I wouldn’t have picked up otherwise! It’s one of my favorite parts of the blogging community, and how everyone can have such different thoughts on one book. I too love that learning doesn’t have to stop just because I’m done with school! Great list!
It’s so much fun wading through all the recommendations and finding that next great read. I think we’ve all accepted that our TBR list is out of control. π Thank you so much for stopping by. Have a great week!
Ooh! Ooh! I forgot to put your #7 on my list, but I also love the author interaction! I’m on FB and Twitter and I love that when I tag authors, they often reply. I don’t remember getting this kind of author conversation when I was a teen; I love that we have these social media tools now.
I think that’s really one of the benefits of social media! That we get to talk and communicate and build friendships with authors! π Thanks for stopping by.
I love number 5! Reading does make for better writing. π
I saw it as a tip during NaNoWriMo, and kind of shrugged it off. Until I tried it, and it really does work. Thank you for stopping by my blog. π
Oh, the bookshelves! I was actually just telling my boyfriend it was time to be on the lookout for another one, I have stacks on top of existing bookshelves and it’s starting to get out of control, haha. This is a really wonderful list, they’re all so true:)
Here is my list of reasons I love reading & blogging, if you’d like to check them out!
I have my shelves double layered and stacked, and hidden stacks in my closet. It’s out of hand, and I walked out of the library yesterday with three more books. π I don’t think any of us would have it any other way though.
Thanks for stopping by!
